Lex Powell is a writer-director-dilettante who noonlights as a psychotherapist. Their work has been presented at the Whitney Museum, New Museum, BAM, and The Kitchen (among other HIPAA-compliant locations). Lex was a Moonshot Accelerator Fellow for their half-hour comedy pilot PROCREATION, INC. They are in post-production on their latest short film, HOW TO USE THE BATHROOM, and in development for their first feature, EVERYBODY HURTS. Beginning in March 2026, Lex’s voice will be your tour guide for New Museum’s New Humans: Memories of the Future exhibit (well, if you’re a kid that is)!
Lex has been a member of the Meerkat Media Arts Collective, the MT+NYC writing residency, and the Brooklyn Film Collective. They studied performance and psychology at Sarah Lawrence (BA) and NYU (MA), Shakespearean performance at London Academy for Dramatic and Music Arts, and comedy writing and improvisation at The Upright Citizen’s Brigade and The PIT in NYC.
